Our Red Healer cross 12 month old has started chewing all our palm trees at the base. Any suggestions on how to stop this?

You need to break this habit, it might be a bit of a nervous / anxious behavior. You could try wrapping a soft metal sheet or plastic around the base of your palms, and then give your pooch something more constructive to chew on like raw hide or similar.
