new dog we got him from a shelter is unprodictable with young kids and some adults will go for thire ankles and has bitten a neighbours 10 year old boy on the arm!! wonder if hes trying to protect us or is it just young people , have to get a muzzle now which i hate doing as hes briliant off the lead and just wants to chase his ball all the time even if threr is other dogs there! cant seem to work him out at all help dont want to put him down wendy

Hmm .. this is a tricky one. I'm not sure from your post if he is play nipping or actually being aggressive. Regardless, biting on any level is un-expectable. There are many possibilities: maybe he is a fear biter? If it is anxiety related maybe drug therapy may help? I think this is something worth speaking to your vet about. It better to try and find the cause rather than just treating the symptoms.
