Our dog, who's about to turn 1, will not eat dog food or dog biscuits out of his bowl. He will casually take food from them, but won't stop and eat a meal. He will eat if hand fed. We won't put unprocessed chicken or lamb etc. in the bowl, because he will wolf it down in one chomp and later regurgitate it. We've tried different varieties of dog food & biscuits after weeks of trying the same, and we've also tried different bowls (after weeks of trying same!) incl. non- slip "steel", ceramic & plastic (which he tries to eat after the birds & possums have taken his food!). Advice welcome as it is very worrisome.

Answer: Dog doesn't eat out of bowls
I wonder if it might be the texture of the actual bowls as apposed to the bowls themselves? I guess if we had to lick our mashed potatoes and lamb cutlets of a cold, shiny, reflective surface we might not be to happy! Try changing the parameters ... before you serve your pups meal warm the bowl in a oven or similar before hand (this will also increase the pleasant smells of the dinner itself) try different things like this to see if it the actual surface he doesn't like. Will he eat from a flat dish? On the other hand, a dog that is used to being hand fed will get used to this process and will prefer it. Try to be strong and resist hand feeding. He wont starve himself so try to not encourage it.
